The College of Law discussed the Master’s thesis entitled “The Impact of International Policies to Combat Extremism on the Protection of Human Rights – Iraq as a Model” submitted by the student Fatin Qusay Abdul Hamid Hammoudi Al-Tahafi, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jassim Al-Taie.

The thesis addressed the impact of international policies to combat extremism on the protection of human rights through a legal analysis that took Iraq as an applied model, employing a multidimensional approach based on deconstructing the concept of extremism, analysing the relevant international legal foundations, and evaluating practical practices and their repercussions on rights and freedoms.

The study aimed to elucidate the impact of international policies applied in the field of combating extremism on human rights, and the extent to which these policies are consistent with international human rights standards, ultimately arriving at a balanced vision that fulfils security requirements while simultaneously preserving fundamental rights and freedoms.
