On Sunday, August 2, 2026, the College of Law at the University of Mosul witnessed the defense of the Master’s thesis entitled “Digital Forensics and Its Role in Achieving International Criminal Justice”, submitted by the student Zaman Hisham Mahmoud Ibrahim, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ziyad Abdulwahab Abdullah.

The thesis addressed the importance of digital forensics as one of the modern and effective means of extracting, documenting, and utilizing digital evidence in criminal investigations, with a focus on its role in proving international crimes or refuting charges before the International Criminal Court. It also reviewed the most prominent practical applications and challenges facing the use of digital evidence, and examined the extent of legislative development in this field at both the international and Iraqi levels.

The study aimed to highlight the importance of digital forensic techniques in collecting and analyzing digital evidence, and their role in enhancing international and national criminal justice, while emphasizing the need to develop the Iraqi legislative system in line with technological advancements and to enhance the efficiency of criminal justice procedures.
