A master’s thesis presented by Faisal Fares Idris, titled: “Pharmacological Effects of Amantadine in a Chick Model”

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Mosul held a master’s thesis defense titled:
“Pharmacological Effects of Amantadine in a Chick Model”,
presented by Faisal Fares Idris, specializing in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, on Monday, August 11, 2025.
The study affirmed the safety of amantadine administration in chicks, particularly with respect to hepatic and renal functions. It further revealed the compound’s favorable pharmacokinetic profile and its distinctive capacity to modulate cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme activity in the brain, positioning it as a promising analgesic and pre-anesthetic agent in veterinary medicine.
