A master’s thesis presented by Abdullah Marwan Hazim “Conventional and Molecular Diagnosis of Aerobic Bacteria Isolated from Cases of Enteritis in Pigeons.”

Master’s Thesis Defense
A Master’s thesis defense was held at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Microbiology, entitled “Conventional and Molecular Diagnosis of Aerobic Bacteria Isolated from Cases of Enteritis in Pigeons.” The thesis was presented by Abdullah Marwan Hazim, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Amer Yahya Hameed and Asst. Prof. Dr. Salam Abd Ismail, on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The study aimed to employ conventional and molecular diagnostic methods to identify aerobic bacteria isolated from cases of enteritis in pigeons. The research focused on determining the morphological characteristics and cultural properties of the bacteria when grown on laboratory media and confirming their identification using rapid and advanced diagnostic techniques, including the VITEK system and Render technology. In addition, molecular assays were conducted to detect the virulence factor genes of the isolated bacteria.
Following the student’s confident and scientifically rigorous defense of his thesis and the subsequent discussion by the committee, the thesis was accepted.
