The Department of Business Administration at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, Discusses a PhD Dissertation on Emotional Intelligence and Enhancing Job Competencies

The Department of Business Administration at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 the defense of a PhD dissertation in Discussion Hall No. (1). The dissertation, titled:
“Emotional Intelligence and Its Role in Enhancing Job Competencies: The Mediating Role of Self-Marketing – An Analytical Study of the Opinions of a Sample of Faculty Members at the University of Mosul”
was presented by the student: Suhail Luqman Abbas Fattah.
The study aimed to explore the role of emotional intelligence—through its dimensions (self-awareness, self-management, motivation, empathy, and social skills)—in enhancing job competencies, which include (leadership, digital, personal, and productivity competencies). This was examined through the mediating role of self-marketing, represented by (self-confidence and persuasion skills), in addition to identifying the university’s level of attention to these variables.
Key findings of the study:
There is a full (complete) mediating role of self-marketing in the relationship between emotional intelligence and job competencies.
Enhancing self-marketing skills significantly strengthens the impact of emotional intelligence on developing job competencies among faculty members.
