The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed a Master’s thesis titled “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Added Value of Economic Sectors: A Comparative Study Using Data from Selected Countries,” submitted by the student Dema Hakeem Luqman Hamid Al-Saleem, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 in the Business Administration Department Hall.

​The study aimed to measure the quantitative impact of artificial intelligence on the added value of economic sectors by estimating the elasticity of each sector’s response to changes in technological innovation activity. Furthermore, it tested the nature and size of this relationship in both the short and long run, while conducting a systematic comparison between high-income and middle-income countries to explore the extent to which the effect of artificial intelligence is linked to the level of technological and institutional readiness of each group.

​The study reached several conclusions, most notably a clear disparity in artificial intelligence activity levels between high-income and middle-income countries, as high-income countries achieved higher levels in AI-related innovation indicators, reflecting a widening technological gap between the two groups. The results also indicated differences in the magnitude and direction of the impact of artificial intelligence on the added value of economic sectors among the studied countries, which reflects variations in their levels of technological development, digital infrastructure, and innovative and institutional capacities.
