The Department of Management Information Systems at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, Discusses a Master’s Thesis on the Use of Responsible Metaverse to Support Archaeological Tourism in Iraq

The Department of Management Information Systems at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed on Sunday, August 16, 2026, a master’s thesis titled “The Use of Responsible Metaverse in Supporting Archaeological Tourism in Iraq,” submitted by the student Rayan Surri Attallah Neda, in Discussion Hall No. (1).

The study aimed to diagnose the impact of the UTAUT2 model dimensions in shaping the behavioral intention (BI) among employees, and to test the effect of these dimensions on the actual use of the metaverse (MU), thereby contributing to employing responsible metaverse technologies to support archaeological tourism in Iraq and enhancing their utilization in tourism institutions and museums.

The results showed that affective factors and habitual behavioral repetition represent the main driver for forming behavioral intention among employees in tourism organizations and museums toward adopting responsible metaverse technology. The structural model also proved a direct, strong, positive, and significant effect of behavioral intention on the actual use of metaverse technology. This confirms that a higher level of intention among employees directly reflects on employing these technologies in the work environment, supporting the development of tourism services and preserving archaeological heritage through modern digital methods.

The discussion committee consisted of: Professor Dr. Ali Abdul-Fattah Mahmoud – College of Administration and Economics / University of Mosul – Chairman, Assistant Professor Dr. Huda Abdul-Rahim Hussein – College of Administration and Economics / University of Mosul – Member, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Jajan Younis – College of Computer Science and Mathematics / University of Mosul – Member, Professor Dr. Amer Abdul-Razzaq Abdul-Muhsin – College of Administration and Economics / University of Mosul – Member and Supervisor.
