The Two Winged Bulls Land In University Of Mosul

As promised by Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamaladdin Al-Ahmed, Rector of University of Mosul to take the University forward to the level of the prestigious international universities, scientifically, architecturally and culturally, two 3D models, identical to the antique Iraqi winged bull, which is located at the British Museum, London, landed on Thursday, October 17 2019, at the Students’ Center, in the middle of the campus. Earlier, the Spanish government, in cooperation with the British Museum pledged to supply and to install them on suitable platforms at the entrance of the Center. These two models were implemented by Factum of Spain, Madrid, which is specialized in restoring and maintaining antiquities, and were transported to Erbil Airport, Iraq by a Spanish Air Force plane. The importance of the Winged Bull relates to the history and heritage of Iraq, in general, and to the Assyrian civilization, in particular, and having these models is a significant accomplishment for the University especially that there were identical models in Mosul Civilization Museum, but they were destroyed by the gangs of Daesh. Last but not least, University of Mosul, represented by Rector Al-Ahmedy expresses thanks and gratitude to all the authorities that facilitated the delivery of the models to the University’s campus including the Spanish authorities, Iraqi Ministry of Defense, both the managements of Baghdad and Erbil Airports, Nineveh Province Office, Nineveh Operations Commandership, Nineveh Province Municipality.
