Representative of Rector Al-Ahmedy at Oxford University

Dispatched and Supervised by Rector Al-Ahmedy, Dr. Ala’a Nabil Hamdoon, Director of Remote Sensing Center of University of Mosul, pays a visit to the Faculty of Archaeology, Oxford University, UK. He met Prof. Robert Bewley, who is in charge of AIMENA (an international project to preserve endangered antiquities in the Middle East and North Africa), Prof. Andrew Wilson, the project supervisor, Prof. Amy Bogaard, Dean of the Faculty, and a number of other professors. In their meeting, the discussions turned around establishing scientific and research cooperation between the Faculty of Archaeology, Oxford University and the Remote Sensing Center, utilizing the remote sensing and other geographic tools to study and maintain antiquities and the cultural heritage of Nineveh and even the other provinces. At the end of the meeting, and on behalf of Rector of University of Mosul, a souvenir (the shield of the Central Library of University of Mosul) was given Bodleian Library of Oxford University, which is one of the oldest and the most prominent libraries in the UK. Also, the shield of University of Mosul was given a souvenir Dean of Faculty of Archaeology, Oxford University.
