The Grand Theater of University of Mosul hosted a premier concert on February 24th, 2022. The concert organized under auspices of Rector Kossay Alahmady and sponsorship of Radio al-Ghad, Mosul, and to which Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals, Dr. Manhal Al-Khabbaz, Rectors of Nineveh University and Al-Hamdaniyeh University, public and official figures and other interested people attended, was described by all ‘fabulous.’Orchestra leader, Mohammed Mahmood said that “music can evidently light lights in the dark,” and that is the standpoint of his orchestra, referring to the case of Mosul, devastated by terror and warfare.Worthwhile is that Watar Orchestra was founded in late 2020, and consisted of 35 young musicians all from Nineveh under 25 years old.
