Critical Discourse Analysis of Religious Discourse: Selected Texts from Early Islamic Era
The college of education for humanities, department of English, discussed a thesis on Critical Discourse Analysis of Religious Discourse: Selected Texts from Early Islamic Era on Monday 2/9/2024.
A Part of it was attended by the dean, head of the said department and a number of the faculty’s teaching staff.
The study, presented by Yaseen Muslih Khalaf, analyzes three sermons of the most prominent figures in Islam from a Critical Discourse Analysis perspective: Prophet Muhammad’s Farewell Sermon, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq’s Inauguration Speech and Imam Ali’s Sermon in the book “Nahjul Balagha”.
The study primarily aims to identify the ideologies embedded in these three Sermons and identifying the orientation (positive or negative) of these ideologies.
