The Bachelor’s Program offered by the Department of Arabic Language, College of Education for Humanities, University of Mosul is a four-year full-time university program that aims to prepare graduates with integrated academic knowledge in Arabic language sciences and literature, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications in line with modern university education requirements, quality standards, and academic accreditation.
The program provides students with a solid academic foundation in the sciences of the Arabic language, including grammar, morphology, rhetoric, semantics, linguistics, and philology, as well as ancient and modern Arabic literature, literary criticism, presentations, and scientific research methods. The program also addresses issues of Arabic language, literature, and culture, and their relationship to intellectual, social, and civilizational contexts.
The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge and practical applications through the analysis of linguistic and literary texts, grammatical, morphological and rhetorical exercises, critical applications, scientific research and projects, practical training in the field of education, as well as the employment of resources, libraries, digital databases, and modern technologies in the study of the Arabic language and literature.
During the program, students acquire skills in reading, linguistic and literary analysis, writing and expression, editing and proofreading, scientific research, oral and written communication, critical thinking, language problem solving, and the preparation of research, reports, and cultural and educational content. They are also trained to use digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and electronic tools responsibly in learning, research, and serving the Arabic language.
The program prepares graduates for a variety of career paths, particularly education and teaching, editing and proofreading, media and publishing, cultural, educational and digital content development, cultural and research institutions, libraries and information centers, and government and private institutions, as well as preparing them to pursue postgraduate studies and specialization in the fields of Arabic language and literature.
The program also promotes lifelong learning, continuous professional development, teamwork, leadership, academic, professional and ethical responsibility, innovation and creativity, and instills in students the importance of preserving the Arabic language, its heritage and cultural identity, and contributing to community service and supporting sustainable development through the employment of linguistic, literary and educational knowledge.

The Bachelor of Arabic program aims to:
- Providing a comprehensive linguistic and literary education for students that establishes a solid academic base in the sciences of the Arabic language, especially grammar, morphology, rhetoric, semantics, and linguistics, and in Arabic literature, its theories and curricula, while developing scientific and critical thinking, analytical and interpretive skills, and solving linguistic and literary problems.
- To prepare qualified graduates to practice professions related to the Arabic language in the fields of education and teaching, editing and proofreading, media and publishing, cultural institutions, scientific research, and digital content, as well as to prepare them for further postgraduate studies and specialization in the fields of Arabic language and literature.
- Developing students’ academic and applied competencies through training in the analysis of linguistic and literary texts, conducting scientific research, grammatical, morphological and rhetorical applications, literary criticism, writing, editing, and proofreading, and employing specialized digital resources, libraries, and databases.
- Enabling students to deal with Arabic sources and texts by collecting, classifying, analyzing, interpreting and critiquing them, employing appropriate scientific methods to study linguistic and literary phenomena, and producing research and studies that contribute to addressing linguistic, literary and cultural issues.
- Enhance students’ communication, teamwork, leadership, and project management skills, and enable them to effectively employ the Arabic language in educational, research, media and cultural environments, and work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Consolidating academic, professional and ethical responsibility in the use, teaching and research of the Arabic language, promoting awareness of the importance of the language in preserving the cultural identity and heritage of the Arabs, encouraging creativity and innovation, employing digital technologies and artificial intelligence responsibly, and contributing to community service and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.

Upon successful completion of the program’s requirements, graduates are awarded a bachelor’s degree in Arabic from the University of Mosul.
The program is classified at the sixth level of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF), or its equivalent, in accordance with the regulations and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).
Admission to the Bachelor’s program in the Department of Arabic Language is subject to the admission regulations and policies approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul. Applicants must meet the approved admission criteria for the program.
To earn a bachelor’s degree in Arabic, students must successfully meet all graduation requirements, including:
- Successfully complete all 240 ECTS credit hours, including all mandatory and elective subjects specified in the curriculum.
- Meet the minimum graduation requirements in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul.
- Complete all required laboratory applications, field studies, field training, and other practical components of the program, where needed.
- Comply with all academic regulations governing assessment, progress, and graduation, as approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and transfer of previously earned academic hours are considered only in cases of student transfer or course equivalency, in accordance with the regulations and instructions issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul.
Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Arabic program, graduates are expected to achieve the following program educational outcomes (PLOs/GOs), which reflect the linguistic, literary, educational, and professional knowledge, skills, and competencies that the graduate should possess upon graduation:
GO1: The ability to identify, identify, formulate, and address linguistic, literary, and pedagogical problems and issues through the use of the principles of Arabic language sciences, especially grammar, morphology, rhetoric, semantics, and linguistics, as well as literary and critical knowledge and scientific research methods.
GO2: The ability to analyze, interpret, and critique linguistic and literary texts, and to produce studies, researches, and appropriate solutions to linguistic, literary, and educational issues, taking into account cultural, social, and educational contexts, and to employ linguistic and literary knowledge in the service of society and the preservation of cultural identity.
GO3: The ability to apply scientific research methods in linguistic, literary, and educational studies, including the collection, classification, analysis, and interpretation of data, sources, and information, verification of their accuracy and reliability, and the derivation of evidence-based scientific conclusions and conclusions.
GO4: The ability to communicate effectively in Arabic with various segments of society, and to present ideas, information, and scientific results clearly and accurately, using appropriate oral, written and digital methods, while adhering to the Arabic grammar and integrity of expression.
GO5: Ability to be aware of the ethical and professional responsibilities associated with the use, teaching and research of the Arabic language, and to make responsible professional decisions that take into account scientific, cultural and social values, preserve the integrity of the Arabic language, its heritage and identity, and respect intellectual and cultural diversity.
GO6: Ability to recognize the importance of continuous learning, self-development, and professional development, and to acquire, evaluate, organize, and employ new linguistic, literary, and pedagogical knowledge, and to make use of resources, libraries, digital databases, modern technologies, and artificial intelligence in a scientific and ethical manner.
GO7: Ability to work effectively within teams, participate in the planning and implementation of linguistic, literary, educational, and cultural projects and activities, distribute tasks, assume responsibilities, adhere to deadlines, manage problems and challenges, and make appropriate decisions.
The Bachelor’s Degree Program in Arabic Language is compliant with the sixth level of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF). - Ministry of Education and Educational Institutions: Working in public and private schools as Arabic language teachers, in accordance with the approved regulations and instructions.
- Universities and Higher Education Institutions: Work in academic, educational, and administrative fields related to the Arabic language, after completing postgraduate studies and meeting the approved academic requirements.
- Cultural and Literary Institutions: Working in cultural and literary centers and institutions concerned with the Arabic language and heritage, and participating in the preparation and organization of cultural events and activities.

The Arabic Language Program adopts exam , assessment, and evaluation regulations approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul. Student performance is assessed through a variety of continuous and consequential assessment methods, including:
- Continuous assessment, including quizzes, assignments, and class activities.
- Mid-term exams.
- Final Exams.
- Laboratory application reports and practical assessments.
- Projects and courses related to the Arabic language.
- Field training and field studies.
- Oral presentations and seminars.

Bachelor’s Program in Arabic Language
The Bachelor of Arabic Language program is a full-time university program that extends for four academic years, and aims to prepare graduates who possess specialized knowledge and academic, pedagogical, and linguistic skills that qualify them to practice work in the fields of Arabic language education, scientific research, and related fields, in accordance with the requirements of quality and academic accreditation.
The program adopts a student-centered learning approach, by employing a variety of teaching and learning methods and strategies, which combine theoretical lectures, linguistic, grammatical, and morphological applications, literary, critical and rhetorical studies, practical and field training, and project-based learning and scientific activities, in a way that contributes to the development of critical and creative thinking and the ability to employ knowledge in a variety of educational and applied situations.
The program also focuses on developing students’ digital skills by employing modern technologies, software, and educational applications in the study of the Arabic language, producing digital educational content, scientific research, linguistic and textual analysis, managing electronic resources and references, and benefiting from artificial intelligence tools and modern digital applications related to teaching and learning the Arabic language.
These educational activities are supported by a set of scientific seminars, workshops, seminars, applied activities, and field training, in order to enhance the linguistic, literary, educational, research and digital competencies of students, and contribute to preparing them for professional practice in the fields of teaching the Arabic language, scientific research, editing and proofreading, writing, literary criticism, cultural and media work, as well as keeping pace with modern developments in teaching the Arabic language and employing technology in the service of language and its literature.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Arabic The Coordinator’s duties include overseeing the implementation of curricula, monitoring the achievement of graduate outcomes, coordinating academic activities between faculty and students, supervising laboratory activities, field training, literary and linguistic studies, and ensuring that the program is compliant with the quality assurance policies of the University of Mosul, the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR), and the requirements for accreditation of academic programs.
The program coordinator also supports the review and development of curricula to ensure that the program keeps pace with recent developments in critical and rhetorical studies within modern theories.
