Course Description:
The Course Description provides a brief summary of the main characteristics of a course and the learning outcomes expected to be achieved by students. It also highlights the available learning opportunities and demonstrates the course’s alignment with the program objectives and intended learning outcomes.
Program Vision:
To prepare academically and professionally distinguished graduates in the field of English language who are capable of competing in the labor market, keeping pace with scientific and technological advancements, and contributing effectively to community development.
Program Mission:
To provide a supportive educational and research environment that contributes to preparing qualified graduates in the field of English language, equipped with the necessary linguistic, pedagogical, and professional competencies, while adhering to the principles of quality, lifelong learning, and community service.
These are statements that describe what the academic program seeks to achieve throughout the period of study by developing students’ linguistic, academic, research, and pedagogical competencies in a manner that meets societal needs and labor market requirements.
Program Structure:
The Program Structure includes all courses offered within the academic program in the areas of language, linguistics, literature, English language teaching methodologies, and supporting courses, in accordance with the approved academic system, while specifying the number of credit units and the requirements of the institution, college, and department.
Learning Outcomes:
Learning Outcomes are the knowledge, skills, values, and competencies that students acquire upon the successful completion of the academic program, enabling them to use the English language effectively in academic, professional, and research contexts.
Teaching and Learning Strategies:
These are the methods and instructional approaches employed by faculty members to achieve the program objectives and learning outcomes. Upon successful completion of the program requirements, graduates are awarded the
Bachelor of Education in English(B.A.) degree by the University of Mosul.
The program is classified at Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF),
or its equivalent, in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Higher
Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).
Admission to the Bachelor of Education (B.A.) in English program is governed by the regulations and admission policies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific
Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul. Applicants must meet the approved
admission criteria for English.
To be awarded the Bachelor of Education (B.A.) in English, students must successfully satisfy all graduation requirements, including:
▪ Successful completion of all 240 ECTS credits, including all compulsory and elective
Courses specified in the curriculum.
▪ Achievement of the minimum graduation requirements in accordance with the
regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR)
and the University of Mosul.
▪ Successful completion of all required laboratory work, field training, and other

The Specialized Learning Outcomes describe the specific knowledge, skills, and competencies that students are expected to acquire upon successful completion of the B.A. Program in English. These outcomes reflect the major areas of specialization within the program, including English language and linguistics, literature, English language teaching methodology, and translation.
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
– Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the structures and systems of the English language, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and discourse.
– Demonstrate knowledge of major linguistic theories and concepts and their applications to the analysis of the English language.
– Demonstrate knowledge of major literary genres, periods, movements, authors, and critical approaches in English and American literature.
– Demonstrate knowledge of theories, principles, approaches, and methods related to teaching and learning English as a foreign language.

The English Program adopts the examination, assessment, and grading regulations
approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the
University of Mosul. Student performance is assessed through a variety of continuous and
summative assessment methods, including:
- Continuous assessment (quizzes, assignments, and classroom activities).
- Midterm examinations.
- Final examinations.
- Laboratory reports and practical assessments.
- Summer training.
- Oral presentations and seminars.
- Graduation project assessment.

To be eligible for the award of the Bachelor of Education (B.A.) in English, students
must successfully fulfill all graduation requirements in accordance with the regulations of
the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of
Mosul, including:
- Successful completion of all 240 ECTS credits and all compulsory and elective
courses specified in the curriculum.
- Achievement of the minimum graduation requirements, including the required
cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA), in accordance with the applicable
regulations.
- Successful completion of the graduation project and all required laboratory, practical,
and summer training components.
- Fulfillment of all academic and administrative requirements for the award of the
bachelor’s degree
The Bachelor of Education (B.Sc.) in Englsih is a four-year, full-time undergraduate
program delivered in accordance with the Bologna Process and comprising 240 ECTS
credits. The program adopts a student-centered learning approach that integrates theoretical

Students are trained to use industry-standard software for historical text preparation, source analysis, archival research, and historical research planning. These educational activities are supported by seminars, technical workshops, and practical training to enhance students’ specialized competencies, digital skills, and readiness for professional and academic practice.
Program Coordinator of The Bachelor of Education (B.A.) in English
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and
continuous improvement of the Bachelor of Education (B.A.) in English program.
The role includes overseeing the implementation of the curriculum, monitoring the achievement of the Graduate Outcomes, coordinating academic activities among faculty members and students, supervising laboratory and field training activities, and ensuring alignment with the University of Mosul’s quality assurance policies, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) regulations, and program accreditation requirements. The Program Coordinator also supports curriculum review and enhancement to ensure that the program remains responsive to advances in English, industry needs, and emerging technologies.
