The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Health at the University of Mosul is a four-year, full-time undergraduate program comprising 240 ECTS credits and aligned with the Bologna Process. The program provides. students with a strong foundation in environmental sciences, public health, biology, chemistry, microbiology, epidemiology, and environmental health principles, followed by advanced study in environmental health risk assessment, water and wastewater quality, air pollution and health, food safety, occupational and environmental safety, waste management, environmental toxicology, and environmental monitoring. The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge with laboratory experiments, field training, environmental measurements, data analysis, research activities, and project-based learning to develop technical competence and professional skills. Graduates acquire analytical, practical, communication, and problem-solving abilities required to identify environmental health hazards, assess risks, interpret monitoring results, recommend control measures, and contribute to healthy and sustainable communities. The program also prepares graduates for professional practice, lifelong learning, and postgraduate studies while promoting ethical responsibility, teamwork, innovation, environmental sustainability, and protection of public health.
- Provide students with comprehensive scientific and professional knowledge in environmental health, environmental sciences, and public health, while developing scientific reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Prepare graduates for professional careers and postgraduate studies by developing their ability to identify environmental health hazards, assess risks, interpret environmental and health data, and propose appropriate prevention and control measures.
- Develop technical and practical competencies through laboratory experiments, field investigations, environmental monitoring, sampling, data analysis, undergraduate research, and the effective use of modern analytical and digital tools.
- Enhance graduates’ communication, leadership, teamwork, health education, and project-management skills, enabling them to work effectively in multidisciplinary environmental and public-health teams.
- Promote research, innovation, sustainability, environmental responsibility, occupational health and safety, professional ethics, and lifelong learning while preparing competent environmental health specialists capable of meeting community and labor-market needs.
Upon successful completion of the program requirements, graduates are awarded the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Environmental Health by the University of Mosul.
The program is classified at Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF), or its equivalent, in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).
Admission to the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Health program is governed by the regulations and admission policies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul. Applicants must meet the approved admission criteria for the relevant undergraduate programs.
– Successful completion of all 240 ECTS credits, including compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum.
– Achievement of the minimum graduation requirements in accordance with the regulations of MOHESR and the University of Mosul.
– Successful completion of required laboratory work, field training, practical activities, research/project components, and other program requirements. I Compliance with all academic regulations governing assessment, progression, academic integrity, and graduation.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and transfer of academic credits are considered only in cases of student transfer or course equivalency, in accordance with the regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul.
GO1: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of environmental health, environmental sciences, public health, biology, chemistry, microbiology, epidemiology, and related scientific principles.
GO2: Identify, formulate, and evaluate environmental health problems and risks using scientific evidence, appropriate measurements, and principles of environmental and public health.
GO3: Plan and perform environmental sampling, laboratory analyses, field investigations, monitoring, and data analysis; interpret results and make evidence-based environmental health judgments.
GO4: Effectively communicate environmental health information with individuals, communities, institutions, and multidisciplinary professional teams.
GO5: Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities and make sound judgments considering public health, environmental, social, economic, and sustainability consequences.
GO6: Recognize the need for continuing professional development and demonstrate the ability to obtain, evaluate, accumulate, and apply new environmental health knowledge.

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Health program is aligned with the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF) at Level 6. The framework describes how the program develops the knowledge, skills, application abilities, and professional values expected of graduates.

The Environmental Health Program adopts the examination, assessment, and grading regulations approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul. Student performance isassessed through continuous and summative methods, including:
– Continuous assessment, quizzes, assignments, and classroom activities.
– Midterm and final examinations.
– Laboratory reports and practical assessments.
– Field investigations, environmental sampling, and monitoring activities.
– Case studies, environmental health assessments, and project-based coursework.
– Oral presentations, seminars, and scientific discussions.
– Research activities and graduation project assessment.
– Compliance with academic integrity regulations and institutional policies regarding academic misconduct, cheating, and plagiarism.
– Successful completion of all 240 ECTS credits and all compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum.

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Health is a four-year, full-time undergraduate program delivered in accordance with the Bologna Process and comprising 240 ECTS credits. The program adopts a student-centered learning approach integrating theoretical lectures, laboratory experiments, practical applications, environmental field training, project-based learning, research activities, and modern digital tools. Students are trained in environmental
sampling and monitoring, laboratory analysis, environmental health risk assessment, data analysis, scientific reporting, health education, and environmental management. These activities are supported by seminars, technical workshops, field visits, and practical training to enhance technical competence, professional communication, and readiness for environmental health practice.
Program Coordinator of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Health The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Health program. The role includes overseeing curriculum implementation, monitoring the achievement of Graduate Outcomes, coordinating academic activities among faculty members and students, supervising laboratory and field-training activities, and ensuring alignment with the University of Mosul’s quality assurance policies, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) regulations, and applicable program accreditation requirements. The Program Coordinator also supports curriculum review and enhancement to ensure that the program remains responsive to advances in environmental health sciences, public health needs, labor-market requirements, environmental challenges, and emerging technologies.
