A new patent for the College of Pharmacy – University of Mosul
Dr. Amina Mu thaffar Anwar, a lecturer Pharmaceutics Department, awarded a patent from the Ministry of Planning/ Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control for the manufacture of sonar gel in partnership with Dr. Muyaser Mohammad Ali, a lecturer at the College of Pharmacy at Nineveh University.
The idea aims to formulate an alternative gel to the commercial one that is available in the market, which is used with an ultrasound device. The gel showed a good quality, competitive with the imported gel, and synthesized by using chemicals available in the local market without causing harmful side effects on the patient’s skin.
The gel was manufactured and evaluated successfully, as this product is considered the first locally made product and can be used as a good and cheap alternative to the gel available in the market and imported at expensive rate. In addition to using it with the sonar device, the gel has proven successful results when used with ECG devices, as well as when used to conduct an electrocardiogram and some other diagnostic devices.
On this occasion, the Deanship of the College of Pharmacy, on behalf of all its members, extends its congratulations and blessings to Dr. Amina for this outstanding scientific achievement and wishes her continued success in her career to serve science and education.
