In fulfillment of the Fourth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4): Quality Education, the Dean of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jasim Al-Taie, chaired a Master’s thesis defense committee at the College of Law. The thesis was submitted by the student Hussein Ibrahim Hassan and entitled: “Digital Citizenship and Its Challenges in Light of the Provisions of International Human Rights Law.” The defense was held on Sunday, 6 September 2026.

The thesis concluded that digital citizenship has become an integrated legal framework for protecting rights and freedoms in the digital environment. This requires developing national legislation and enhancing its compatibility with international standards, activating oversight and enforcement mechanisms, strengthening legal cooperation, and promoting digital awareness. Such measures would achieve a balance between protecting digital rights and the requirements of security and public order, thereby contributing to the creation of a safe digital environment that safeguards human dignity and freedoms.

Following the discussion, the committee’s decision was read, approving the thesis and awarding the student a Master’s degree.
