Outstanding Participation of Faculty Members from the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, in the Sustainable Security Forum for Enhancing Cybersecurity with Artificial Intelligence Organized by the College of Science

In line with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal Four: Quality Education, and Goal Sixteen: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit (at the Presidency of the University of Mosul); and under the patronage of the Office of the Prime Minister and supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the College of Science organized the Sustainable Security Forum, in collaboration with the Security Media Cell, the Ministry of Interior, and the Popular Mobilization Forces, on Wednesday, 24 December 2025.

The forum witnessed the presence of official and academic figures, including the Adviser to the Prime Minister and Chair of the National Permanent Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance, Dr. Haider Al-Saadi; the University President, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi; Assistant Professor Dr. Fares Mahdi Alwan, Director General of Private Education; and Dr. Mousa Al-Mousawi, Chair of the Committee for Academic Affairs at the Office of the Prime Minister, along with a distinguished group of security leaders and academics. The College of Political Science played a key role in organizing and ensuring the success of the forum, with three faculty members participating in the scientific session: Lecturer Dr. Firas Mohammed Elias, Lecturer Dr. Ali Bashar Bakr, and Assistant Lecturer Abdulkarim Zuhair Atiyah.

The forum aimed to highlight the use of computer technologies and artificial intelligence in the field of cybersecurity and security applications, seeking to consolidate the concept of sustainable security by discussing mechanisms for the early detection of digital threats and addressing them, and developing software tools that support enhancing information sovereignty and protecting national infrastructure from breaches, serving the requirements of Iraqi national security.

The forum falls within the university’s efforts to strengthen partnerships between academic and security institutions to confront rapidly emerging digital challenges.
