Master’s Thesis Defense
A Master’s thesis defense was held at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Microbiology, for the thesis entitled “Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Ear Mange Mites in Cats”, presented by Wasan Abbas Mohammed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Lian Yaseen Khalil, on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The examination committee consisted of the following members:
Prof. Dr. Iman Ghanim Suleiman – College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Mosul – Chair
Prof. Dr. Sura Salim Abdul Razzaq – College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Mosul – Member

Ear mite infestation in cats is considered one of the widespread parasitic diseases caused by species of mange mites belonging to two mite families. In this study, the prominent morphological characteristics were identified for the classification of the aforementioned causative agents using a dichotomous taxonomic key. This identification was further confirmed through molecular analysis using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique, in addition to investigating some important parameters related to the prevalence of infection in cats.
Following the student’s confident and scientifically rigorous defense of her thesis and the committee’s discussion and evaluation, the thesis was accepted.
Congratulations to the researcher, her supervisor, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Department of Microbiology on this scientific achievement. We wish the examination committee continued success. This thesis defense contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
