The Industrial Management Department at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discusses a Master’s thesis on utilizing design quality strategies to reduce industrial waste levels.

َThe Industrial Management Department at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, a master’s thesis defense titled “Utilizing Design Quality Strategies to Reduce Industrial Waste Levels,” submitted by the student Bahjat Hani Sawadi Saleh Al-Janabi, in Discussion Hall No. 2.
The study aimed to highlight the significance of adopting design quality strategies as a preventive design approach that contributes to operational efficiency and sustainability, while also providing practical solutions to curb material waste and minimize pollution across industrial sectors.
Among its key findings, the study concluded that reaching minimal levels of industrial waste from production processes serves as a strategic goal for manufacturing firms. This objective can be realized by applying sustainable design quality strategies—particularly design for recycling, reuse, disassembly, maintenance, and durability—which help reduce solid, liquid, and gaseous industrial waste, optimize resource utilization, and foster environmental sustainability.
