Discussion of a Ph.D. Thesis on (Effect of Milking, Suckling Methods and Weaning Systems in Productive and physiological Performance in Awassi Sheep)

A Ph.D. thesis was discussed in the Department of Animal Production/ College of Agriculture and Forestry / University of Mosul on (Effect of Milking, Suckling Methods and Weaning Systems in Productive and physiological Performance in Awassi Sheep) for the student (Mr. Muthanna Fathi Abdullah) on Wednesday 28/7/2021 in Al-Hadba’a hall. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf (Dean of the College) attended a part of the discussion.
The thesis aims to study the effect of three milking methods (hand milking, hand milking plus oxytocin injection, hand milking plus lamb suckling), the effect of three methods of suckling (24, 15, 9) hours, and two weaning systems at (15, 20) a kg on milk yield and composition, length of lactation season, weekly weights of lambs, weight gain and body dimensions at weaning and puberty, and study the effect of suckling methods and weaning system on testicle dimensions at age 5, 6, 7 and 8 months and some characteristics of semen starting from 5 months of age and after puberty by 2 and 4 weeks, also study their effect on age and weight at sexual puberty for males and females, the age of males lamb sexual puberty was estimated by collection semen by electrical stimulation method, in females lamb by measuring the concentration of progesterone hormone in the blood.

Then the discussion committee read the decision which included acceptance of the thesis and award the student a Ph.D. degree.
