The College of Agriculture and Forestry is holding its Fourth International Agricultural Conference under the slogan “Agricultural Sustainability is a Way to Reduce Climate Change.”
Under the direct auspices of Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi (Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research) and the supervision and presence of Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi (President of Mosul University) and chaired by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf (Dean of the College), the College of Agriculture and Forestry held its fourth international agricultural conference, under the slogan “Agricultural Sustainability is a Way To reduce climate change and achieve food security, today, Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the University Theater Hall.The opening activities of the conference were attended by Prof. Dr. Mounir Salem Taha (Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs), Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi (Administrative Assistant to the President of the University), the deans of the faculties, as well as several directors of government departments in the governorate, heads of departments, and many affiliates and students of the college.Three hundred thirty-one papers were submitted to the conference, of which 280 papers were accepted from various Arab and foreign countries, 123 of which were by professors and academics from the University of Mosul, while the remaining papers were by researchers from 13 countries, namely Jordan – Egypt – Syria – the United States of America – Russia – Libya – Hungary – Saudi Arabia – Nigeria – Poland – Pakistan – Netherlands – Iran.The conference event consisted of the following:1- The conference’s opening ceremony began with the national anthem playing.2- Reciting a verse from the Holy Qur’an.3- The speech of the Presidency of Mosul University, delivered by Prof. Dr. Mounir Salem Taha.4- Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf delivered the Deanship of the College of Agriculture and Forestry speech. 5- The speech of the representative of the bodies supporting the work of the conference, Mr. Ziyad Suhail Khattab, in which he spoke about agricultural projects implemented by specialized organizations in the agricultural field in Iraq.6- A documentary film was shown about the college since its establishment, embodying the stages of its development and the march of its science departments.7- An artistic show on stage for students from the Faculty of Fine Arts. The show dealt with the history and civilization of Mesopotamia over the ages and times.8- Presenting conference shields to several officials in the governorate and concerned departments, as well as retired professors from the faculty.9- The end of the celebration with an introductory scientific lecture via cyberspace given by Prof. Dr. Walid Sabry Naseer (a researcher at the American University of Arizona and a specialist in the agricultural field).10- The President of the University inaugurated a scientific and artistic exhibition and another for handicrafts during their total stay on the sidelines of the conference.The articles presented for the conference work were distributed within a curriculum that includes two-day physical and virtual sessions. The conference sessions included: (1) Plant production environment and plant protection, (2) Sustainability of food and animal resources, (3) Agricultural machinery technology, and agricultural sustainability in soil and water. (4) Extension technologies, agricultural economics, and (5) Forest environment and treatment of pollution and climate change. It is indicated that the submitted articles will be published in the IOP journal indexed within the Scopus repository.
