A Ph.D. thesis was discussed in the Department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources/ College of Agriculture and Forestry / University of Mosul for the student (Ru’a Nofal Nafi’ Al-Shammaa) on Tuesday, 12- September -2023. Thesis title (Using chemical and mineralogical concepts in describing the transformations of carbonate minerals in some calcareous soils of northern Iraq). Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf (Dean of the College), his assistants for scientific and administrative affairs, and a number of college teachers attended part of the discussion.

The study aimed to predict the transformations that occur in carbonate minerals as a result of using different ionic strengths. Determine the change occurring in the chemical composition of carbonate minerals using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) technology. Diagnosis of carbonate minerals using XRD. Using dissolution charts in terms of the thermodynamic input and associated criteria in calculating the SI and IAP for each carbonate mineral.
