A Ph.D. thesis was discussed in the Department of Food Sciences/ College of Agriculture and Forestry / University of Mosul for the student (Tariq Nawaf Khalil) on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Thesis title (Production of Lovastatin compound from a local isolate of filamentous fungi and evaluation of its effectiveness in modifying the lipid profile in the blood of laboratory rats induced by hypercholesterolemia). Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf (Dean of the College) attended part of the discussion.
The thesis aims to produce the Lovastatin compound by growing the fungus A. terreus on different enriched liquid and solid food media and to determine the inhibitory ability of the Lovastatin compound to lipid parameters induced hyperlipidemia in laboratory rats.
