Discussion of a Ph.D. Thesis in the Department of Field Crops
A Ph.D. thesis was discussed in the Department of Field Crops/ College of Agriculture and Forestry / University of Mosul for the student (Abdullah Muayyad Omar) on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Thesis title (Performance and genetic behavior of cotton genotypes (Gossypium hirsutum L.) at different levels of nanofertilization). Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf (Dean of the College), his assistants for scientific and administrative affairs, and several college teachers attended part of the discussion.
The study aims to evaluate new genetic structures of cotton while improving and sustaining those adopted locally and adapted to the prevailing environmental conditions in Iraq by taking advantage of the good ones in breeding and developing new varieties that are more productive, adapted, and stable in their better performance with changing environmental conditions. The study also aims to estimate the components of cotton. Phenotypic variation (total genetic and environmental), heritability in the broad sense, expected genetic improvement, phenotypic and genetic coefficients of variation, phenotypic and genetic correlations, path coefficient analysis, stability, selection evidence, and cluster analysis of blossom cotton yield traits, its components, and staple properties.
The discussion committee consisted of:
- Prof. Dr. Khaled Khalil Ahmed … (Chairman).
- Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sobhi Mustafa … (Member).
- Prof. Dr. Weam Yahya Rashid …. (Member).
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Maysar Muhammad Aziz … (Member).
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Zakaria Badr Fathi … (Member).
- Prof. Dr. Khaled Muhammad Daoud …. (Member and supervisor).
Then the discussion committee read the decision, which included acceptance of the thesis and awarded the student a Ph.D. degree.
