Discussion of a Ph.D. Thesis in the Department of Food Science

A Ph.D. thesis was discussed in the Department of Food Science/ College of Agriculture and Forestry / University of Mosul for the student (Ashraf Akram Abdel Maqsoud Al-Obaidi) on Sunday, December 24, 2023. Thesis title (Evaluating the effectiveness of essential oils extracted from the peels of some local citrus species and their antibacterial effect). Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf (Dean of the College), Prof. Dr. Ali Farouk Al-Maadidi( Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs), and several college lecturers attended part of the discussion. The study aims to extract essential oils using microwave-assisted hydrodistillation, pre-treatment with ultrasound, then hydrodistillation, and to study some of their physical and chemical properties, as well as to study their effect on some microorganisms positive and negative for gram stains, which cause food spoilage.

The discussion committee consisted of:

Then, the discussion committee read the decision, which included acceptance of the thesis and awarding the student a Ph.D. degree.
