Discussion of a Master’s Thesis in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering

A master’s thesis was discussed in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering/ College of Agriculture and Forestry / University of Mosul for the student (Zuhair Abdullah Abdul Rahman) on Wednesday, September 13 -2023. Thesis title (the response of three olive varieties to the dates of taking semi-woody cuttings and different concentrations of IBA on the rooting rate and subsequent growth of seedlings). Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf (Dean of the College) attended a part of the discussion.

The study included two experiments, examining 5 dates in the first experiment and 4 dates in the second experiment for taking cuttings, 3 concentrations of auxins, and three types of olives. The results of the two experiments showed that the date of taking the cuttings in March and November after treating them with a concentration of 5000 mg/L of auxins gave the best results for the characteristics of vegetative and root growth, as well as the variation in the response of the varieties to the factors studied.

The discussion committee consisted of:

  1. Prof. Dr. Iyad Hani Al-Allaf        … (Chairman).
  2. Prof. Dr. Suleiman Muhammad Kaku             … (Member).
  3. Dr. Wissam Khazal Khalid …. (Member).
  4. Prof. Dr. Nabil Muhammad Amin Al-Imam   … (Member and supervisor).

Then, the discussion committee read the decision, which included acceptance of the thesis, and awarded the student an M.Sc. degree.
