The Department of Agricultural Economics holds a scientific symposium on foreign investments and their role in agricultural projects.

Today, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi (President of the University of Mosul) and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis Al-Allaf (Dean of Agriculture and Forestry College), the Department of Agricultural Economics held the scientific symposium entitled (Foreign Direct Investments in Iraqi Agricultural Projects) in the Deanship Hall of the College of Agriculture and Forestry. The seminar touched on the fact that the agricultural sector faced many difficulties and obstacles that prevented its development, and today, it faces significant challenges for its development, which require large investments to confront and overcome them, especially in the field of global expertise and the provision of agricultural technologies. The goal that the symposium is trying to clarify is to know the expected effects of foreign investment in Iraqi agriculture by highlighting the positive impact of this role and describing the possibility of adverse effects of foreign investment on Iraqi agriculture. At the end of the symposium, it recommended reviewing incentive systems and regulatory frameworks for foreign investments and improving the investment climate, especially by creating an appropriate economic, political, and institutional environment.
