Contributing to achieving sustainable development by preparing a specialized and qualified agricultural engineer to work in the fields of soil sciences and water resources, committed to professional ethics, highly efficient in terms of science and applied skills, and able to meet the needs of the local, regional and global labor market and serve the community at a competitive level by developing scientific research skills and continuous self-learning.
Department goals
1-Qualifying scientific staff who are trained and have scientific competencies in the field of soil sciences and water resources, capable of facing the challenges of work and competing with their colleagues in serving the community and meeting the needs of the labor market.
2-Developing a modern, educational environment with the latest technologies and advanced equipment that enables the graduates to work, compete, and continue continuous learning, develop self-learning s skills, in order to develop work performance, team work and make decisions in the field of soil sciences and water resources.
3-Qualifying staff with agricultural legislation, legal and social issues, and commitment to work ethics and quality management related to agricultural sector, especially those related to soil sciences and water resources.
4-Managing and employing resources and addressing problems in agricultural facilities and projects efficiently with good performance in the field of soil sciences and water resources within the framework of preserving natural resources, biodiversity and sustainable development.
5-Improve skills of language and computer use to develop their abilities to use the scientific and practical method in academic research in the field of soil sciences and water resources and contribute to solving agricultural problems.
6-Can analyze the effect of humans, plants, and soils and their interact with our environment in order to promote the conservation of natural resources and environmental protection.
7-Uses scientific and appropriate technology in identifying and classification lands and determining their usage, assesses soil and water properties, and determines appropriate agricultural usage under different environmental conditions and with conditions for preserving soil from deterioration and water from pollution for the sake of a clean, sustainable environment.
8- Study wetland systems and methods of restoring them, as well as study lakes, rivers, groundwater system and their interconnection, and identify public policies related to water and its quality.
9-Acquiring knowledge and skills related to the establishment, classification and maintenance of lands and solving related problems in order to increase productivity.
10-Able to use modern methods and analytical approaches in planning and implementing fertilization programs and utilizing land and water units with a sustainable concept, controlling waste and reducing pollution to obtain an environmentally safe agricultural product.
11-Able to evaluate and manage water resources and their suitability for irrigation in a way that achieves agricultural economic development, preserves biodiversity and sustains resources.
12-Able to apply the statistics and logical analysis in monitoring and analyzing problems related to water resources, soil, and agricultural land in order to developing appropriate solutions.
13-It reclaims and cultivates desert or lands affected by salinity for effectively contributes to increasing production capacity under different environmental conditions, and maintains high soil fertility and prevents it from deterioration.
14-Uses modern scientific methods for organic agriculture to achieve safe agricultural products, and proposes different programs for mineral and organic fertilization within the conditions of preserving the soil, water and environment
15-Dealing with the impact of human activity on the environment and use techniques for rehabilitating damaged soil and water systems, and treating soil and water contaminated with heavy metals and pesticides.
16-Able to manage nutrients in agricultural production projects and is familiar with the fertilizer industry.
17-Able to explore, manage, and mange of groundwater storage and treatment of contaminated groundwater.
18-Dealing with the problems of drought, erosion, floods, water shortages and land degradation that threaten food production.
19-Able to manage and conserve local and international lands and water in a more sustainable manner within the framework of ecosystem management and adaptation to climate change.
20- Studies the sciences of hydrology and meteorology and use them to solve environmental problems.
