On February 7th, the University celebrated the reopening of the Grand University Theater after the accomplishment of the reconstruction and the rehabilitation programs. These programs were cooperated with the UNDP and funded by the German Bank of Development, KFW.The event, which was sponsored by Korek Telecom, a giant Iraqi communications operator, was commenced by cutting the ribbon by minister of Iraqi MOHESR deputy, Dr. Yassin al-Aithawi and Rector Kossay Alahmady jointly with the representatives of both the UNDP and the KFW. The ceremonies included speeches by Dr. Al-Aithawi, Sen. Eng. Osama Ahmed Hamdoon, head of Department of Construction and Projects of University of Mosul, the UNDP representative, the KFW representative, and other speakers. Later, it was concluded by a drama symbolic of the restoration of Mosul, titled ‘the Return,’ directed by head of Department of Arts Education of College of Fine Arts, Dr. Munqith al-Bajdeli.
