The University of Mosul Holds a Grand Celebration on Victory Day
Under the patronage and presence of Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, the University hosted a grand celebration on Victory Day, commemorating the triumph over terrorist groups. The event was held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, and was attended by Prof. Dr. Munir Salem Taha, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Mr. Luqman Al-Rashidi, Member of Parliament for Nineveh, Prof. Dr. Basil Khalaf Hamoud, President of the University Academics Syndicate, as well as members of the University Council, faculty, staff, and students.
The celebration included the playing of the national anthem, a recitation from the Holy Quran, and a moment of silence with the recitation of Surat Al-Fatiha in honor of the martyrs of Iraq.
Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi delivered the opening speech, reflecting on the profound significance of Victory Day and the sacrifices of Iraq’s martyrs, whose blood was shed on the path to liberation, ensuring the country’s pride and triumph.
This was followed by a speech from Prof. Dr. Basil Khalaf Hamoud, President of the Academics Syndicate, and a speech on behalf of the University’s students, delivered by Mohammed Badr, their representative. His address celebrated the spirit of victory and unity among the Iraqi people, emphasizing peaceful coexistence, patriotism, and aspirations for a brighter future.
