The College of Agriculture and Forestry discusses a doctoral thesis on the vital role of climate change and its impact on the growth of green bead trees.
On Monday, December 23, 2024, the College of Agriculture and Forestry at the University of Mosul discussed a doctoral thesis titled “The Vital Role of Climate Change and Its Impact on the Growth of Green Bead Trees (Pistacia Khinjuk) Using Tree Climate Analysis in Northern Iraq.”
The study, presented by student Shaimaa Dia Ali from the Department of Forestry, addressed climate changes that have led to a decline in the growth and vitality of plant cover, an increase in average temperatures, and a decrease in rainfall. These changes have caused effects that exceed the trees’ capacity to endure, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions, as well as physiological changes and a decline in the productivity of plant cover.
The study explored the method of using stem analysis to understand the changes that occur during the growth periods of trees in specific locations, highlighting the importance of this technique in investigating environmental changes and their effects on tree growth and development in those areas.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Younis Al-Alaff, Dean of the College, and included Professor Dr. Ammar Fakhri Khudhair, Dr. Ahmed Bahjat Khalaf, Dr. Omar Muzaffar Omar, Dr. Mohammed Asim Saeed, with oversight and membership from Professor Dr. Mazahim Saeed Al-Bak
