Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof Dr Basil M. Nathir Saeed, and under the supervision of the Head of the Biochemistry Department, assistant Prof Dr Hazim A. Muhammad, the department held a training course on the Corona pandemic on Sunday and Monday 20-21th September 2020. The first day of the course included presenting two lectures, the first by assistant Lecturer Maryam H. Abdel Jalal entitled “The role of the laboratory in diagnosing and following up on Corona patients” followed by a lecture entitled “Rapid Test for the Diagnoses of Covid19.” by the assistant lecturer, Raghad Kh. Ibrahim. The second day also witnessed the presentation of two lectures, the first by assistant Lecturer, Maher Abdel Sattar Ibrahim entitled ” How to take swabs for a patient with Coronavirus”, then concluded with the lecturer Dr Ihssan Hassan Taha, and her lecture entitled “PCR Test for Diagnosis of Covid 19.” The holding of the lectures included questions, interventions and discussions by the whole department of the teaching staff. The establishment of this kind of scientific activities and events at the college goes in line with the continuing education program.
