Conducting Two Discussions in Pathology for Two Iraqi Board Students

Two discussions were held by two Iraqi Board students, the fourth stage of pathology on Wednesday 20th January 2021. The student Hala Th. Muhammad discussed her research entitled “The Role of Histochemical and Immunohistochemical in the Detection of Helicobacter Treponema in Gastritis” The research discussed the histopathological features of H. pylori in gastritis. It aimed to discover and diagnose the presence of H. pylori using the H&E coloring, a special coloring (moderate Jamesa) and immunohistochemistry stain. It was concluded that the use of routine staining is a fairly reliable method for detecting and diagnosing H. pylori gastritis. The discussion committee consisted of the consulting physician Dr. Haifa A. Hussein (chair), the assistant Prof Dr Ikhlas A. Ali (member), the Assistant Prof Dr Nadwa S. Al-Ezzo (member), and Prof Dr Wahda M. Tayyib (supervisor).

In a related context, and after the above discussion, the student Hawazen H. Thanoon started another discussion about her research entitled “The role of Calretinine in Detecting the Nerve Ganglia in Hirschsprung’s Disease. The research discussed the diagnosis of Hirschsprung’s disease and methods of histological diagnosis of the disease. It aimed to evaluate the diagnostic role of immunoglobulin depigmentation of calretinine and to compare it with routine H&E colouring in the diagnosis of H&E. And he concluded that the use of calretinine is an important and helpful factor in diagnosing the mentioned disease, and the use of this dye is superior to the H&E colouring. The discussion committee consisted of Prof Dr Wahdah M. Tayyib (Chair), the consultant physician Dr Haifa A. Hussein (Member), the consultant Dr Hatem A.
