The Department of Medicine Holds the Eleventh and Twelfth Student Seminars for the Academic Year 2020-2021

In the presence of the Head of the Department of Medicine, Prof Dr Khalid N. Al-Kherro, the department held the eleventh and second student seminars for the academic year 2020-2021 on Thursday 21th January 2021 in the lecture’s hall (Clinical Departments Building). The students Ibrahim A. Dahir, Aseel I. Ibrahim, Asma W. Ibrahim, Aya A. Muhammad, Baraa K. Jalout presented the (eleventh) seminar entitled “Chronic Complications of Diabetes Mellitus” under the supervision of Lecturer Dr Muhammad Kh. Haj Hamo. The seminar reviewed the chronic complications of diabetes, how to deal with it, ways to prevent it, and available treatments. After that, and in a related context, another seminar (the twelfth) was presented by students Rami Q. Obaid, Khadija S. Yahya, Hussein H. Abdullah, Ramah Gh. Karim, and Doaa M. Abdul Rahim entitled “Epilepsy” under the supervision of Lecturer Dr Yahya Qassim. The seminar aimed at introducing students to epilepsy, its causes, methods of detection, the latest developments in its treatments, and the modern techniques used in that. After the presentation of each seminar, the audience was allowed to express opinions, questions and interventions. The establishment of these student activities is part of the academic requirements for students of the sixth stage. Among the attendees were all department’s teaching staff as well as the students of the aforementioned stage (the medicine group exclusively).
