Attending the College of Medicine at the Activities of the Regional Program of the American Fellowship to Develop Medical Education in the Middle East and North Africa Through Virtual Reality Technology

Within the on-going scientific activities of the American Fellowship Regional Program for the Development of Medical Education in the Middle East and North Africa, Friday and Saturday 8-9 January 2021 witnessed two virtual scientific activities. Presentations of the second year project for American Fellowship FAIMER 2020 were discussed. The annual international meeting of the annual regional health reform forum WFME titled “Accreditation of Medical Schools in Time of Crisis” was held in which two lectures were given on international accreditation. The College of Medicine attended all these events, represented by the Scientific Vice-Dean, Assistant Professor Dr Humam Gh. Ibrahim, and the Responsible of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Division, the Lecturer Dr Omaima Abdel-Razzaq Ibrahim. The issues raised focused on international accreditation and its importance in the countries of the region and the world especially after the changes that occurred in the principles of accreditation laws after the Corona pandemic, as they seemed to be flexible to adapt to the conditions of each institution and to ensure the achievement of the desired education goals. The activities were concluded with the participation of all attendees by expressing opinions on the changes that must be made to the reliability constants to suit the times of crisis. These events are the first of its kind to be held through virtual reality in the region, and the second in the world. Due to its great importance, it has enjoyed a distinguished presence of various scientific, academic and research personalities from different countries of the world, such as the President of Ain Shams University, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams College of Medicine, the Responsible for Development and Quality in Egyptian Universities, the official and members of the Fimer Program, the Egyptian Accreditation Council, and the President and Advisor of the Accreditation Authority International and many others.
