Symposium on Sustainable Development

The College of Medicine holds an awareness symposium on sustainable development as a reality on the ground.Under the auspices of Prof Dr Qusai K. Al-Ahmadi and under the supervision of Prof Dr Basil Mohammednathir Saeed, Dean of the College, and in the presence of Prof Dr Mounir S.Taha, Vice- President of the University for Scientific Affairs, the College of Medicine held an awareness symposium entitled “Sustainable development is a reality on the ground”, on Tuesday,28 February, 2023, in a hall Grandstand 1 in the deanship building.The opening speech was presented by Assistant Lecturer Karam T. Tawfiq Agha on sustainable development in the College of Medicine. The Scientific Vice-Dean to the President of the University gave a speech in which he praised the efforts of the College of Medicine in holding this symposium in order to review what has been achieved in it of the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations with 17 goals, emphasizing that the University of Mosul with its colleges seeks to achieve these goals for a sustainable life that generations live smoothly and a healthy environment in all its aspects, then followed by a presentation of the Nineveh Gifted School project, winner of the Zayed Prize for Sustainable Development.The symposium dealt with two lectures, the first on “health for all”, presented by Assistant Prof Dr Omaima A. Ibrahim, while Eng. Hussein N. Salih presented the second lecture on “solar energy and its role in sustainable development”.The symposium aimed to develop the health reality and promote awareness among the recipients of the concept and goals of sustainable development. The symposium session concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation and shields.
