The College of Medicine Denies the Rumours of its Exit from the British Council Evaluation

Some pages of Facebook have recently published, quoting an expatriate Iraqi doctor, that the College of Medicine / University of Mosul has exited from the evaluation of the British Council. The publication has been interpreted in a manner contrary to reality. For this reason, we would like to clarify that the British Council GMC relies on clear principles for evaluating medical schools and thus allowing their students to apply for the certificate equivalency exam (BLAB). Hence, the following points should be known:First: The College of Medicine / University of Mosul is existed in the web of directory of medical schools, which is the site approved by the British Council for the evaluation of medical colleges.Second: The British Council requires the authentication of certificates by ECFMG for any physician graduated from any university outside Britain and the European Union, including our college and the rest of the Iraqi colleges. The College of Medicine, University of Mosul, has continuously done authentication of its graduates’ certificates .Third: The British Council indicated that there are some Iraqi colleges whose graduates’ submission to the British equation may be affected (where each student is evaluated separately), and our college (College of Medicine / University of Mosul) is not among these colleges. Therefore, we request our students and graduates not to listen to rumours. At the same time, we demand the publishers of the fake news to deny what they published on their pages, and the necessity to be accurate when reporting the news and not to defame the reputation of the ancient colleges such as the College of Medicine in Mosul
