The College of Medicine Participates in the Regional American Fellowship Program to Develop Medical Education in the Middle East and North Africa

The College of Medicine is attending the regional American fellowship program to develop medical education in the Middle East and North Africa. This attendance was represented by the delegating a lecturer from the Department of Family and Community Medicine lecturer Dr Omaima A. Ibrahim (Official of Scholarships and Cultural Relations Division) after her acceptance to study in the mentioned program. This participation comes within one of the urgent steps that the College of Medicine seeks to achieve international accreditation. The duration of program is two academic years (starts with September 2019 to January 2020) via distance learning and also by attendance. The program also includes a practical training period extending from 4-13 January 2020 in intensive education at Ain Shams University (in Cairo). For example, the activities of the first day included many important items, how to accomplish the work, and the importance of working as a team in order to achieve the goals and other items. The program is supervised by a remarkable joint Egyptian-American staff. While many countries such as Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Libya, Egypt, and others participate in the program in addition to Iraq. The participation of Iraq through the presence of Dr Omaima A. Ibrahim (College of Medicine) in this program which was established in 2000 in Philadelphia (USA). She is the first Iraqi woman attends in such a regional program.
