College of Pharmacy at the University of Mosul Organizes a Workshop on Modern Educational Strategies and the Integration of Artificial Intelligence
As part of the initiatives by the Quality Assurance Division / Technical Support Unit, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Division, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Yassir Fakhry Mustafa, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, a specialized scientific workshop was held on Monday, January 13, 2026. Titled “Modern Educational Strategies and the Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Academic Lecture Preparation,” the workshop reflects the college’s commitment to advancing the educational process and keeping pace with technological advancements in higher education.
Scientific Sessions and Key Themes
The workshop featured two comprehensive lectures:
1. Smart Lecture Preparation via AI Tools: Enhancing Teaching Quality while Preserving the Human Element
Presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Adool, Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department. This session explored mechanisms for utilizing AI tools to organize content, streamline practical tasks, and improve instructional slide design to optimize time and effort. A primary focus was placed on:
* Positioning AI as a supportive tool that cannot replace academic expertise, scientific judgment, or ethical responsibility.
* Defining the ethical boundaries of AI in education.
* The critical role of faculty members in verification and peer review to avoid blind reliance on automated outputs.
* The necessity of guiding students toward the responsible use of these technologies.
2. Principles of Modern Education and Contemporary Teaching Methodologies
Presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Zaid Muwaffaq, a faculty member in the Pharmacognosy Department. This lecture addressed the foundations of modern teaching strategies, with a particular focus on:
* Blended Learning and the effective utilization of faculty-led pedagogical skills.
* Adapting teaching methods to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
* The imperative for educators to continuously update their delivery of scientific material to remain synchronized with global developments.
Discussion and Engagement
The workshop saw active participation and constructive dialogue among faculty members and postgraduate students. The discussions focused on the future of university education amidst the rapid technological shifts currently reshaping the academic environment.
