The workshop was held in collaboration with the European Union Delegation to Iraq, with the participation of a number of Iraqi universities.
The three-day workshop, which involved intensive working sessions (from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), aimed to empower academic staff from the participating universities to design competitive, applicable, and implementable projects. It focused on identifying innovative program types, ensuring effective financial management, developing action plans, setting appropriate timelines, expanding international partnerships, and planning the implementation of activities. In addition, the workshop introduced the project strands (Strands 1, 2, and 3) and provided practical training on designing Work Packages, particularly in project selection, goal setting, identifying beneficiary and supporting entities, and preparing budgets within the frameworks specified by the programmed.
The workshop included a series of lectures and intensive discussion sessions between participants and organizers. The concluding sessions featured the presentation and discussion of draft real projects, aimed at enhancing universities’ readiness to compete internationally. This contributes to strengthening the university’s leading role in supporting the strategy of internationalizing higher education and advancing toward the establishment of sustainable global partnerships.
