An Examination Session for a Master Thesis in Organic Chemistry
The Chemistry department at the College of Science examined a master thesis entitled ” Preparation and Diagnosis of some Unsaturated Alpha-Beta Cyclic Ketones through the Robson Reaction. In the branch of Organic Chemistry, the thesis submitted by the student ‘Vian Younis Sulaiman’ and dealt with methods for the preparation of some cyclic ketone compounds through the kleisen-Schmidt condensation mechanism. It started from 1-indanone or 1-tetralone to prepare the medium (galcone) and then reacted it with multiple compounds to prepare new unsaturated cyclic ketone compounds at the Alpha-Beta site. Also, studying their physical properties and diagnosing them with multiple spectral devices.
