The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Forensic Evidence at the University of Mosul is a four-year, full-time undergraduate program comprising 240 ECTS credits, aligned with the Bologna Process. The program provides students with a strong foundation in fundamental biological, chemical, physical, and legal sciences, followed by advanced study in specialized branches such as crime scene investigation, forensic chemistry, forensic biology and DNA profiling, forensic toxicology, trace evidence analysis, forensic ballistics, and digital forensics.
The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge with hands-on laboratory analyses, simulated crime scene investigation training, evidence collection and preservation techniques, modern analytical instrumentation, research activities, and project-based learning to develop technical competence and professional skills. Graduates acquire the analytical, practical, communication, and problem-solving abilities required to analyze physical evidence, preserve the strict chain of custody, support judicial and law enforcement systems, and contribute to public safety. The program also prepares graduates for professional forensic practice, lifelong learning, and postgraduate studies while promoting legal integrity, ethical responsibility, teamwork, innovation, and a commitment to serving justice and society.

The Forensic Evidence Program aims to:
- Provide students with a comprehensive education establishing a strong foundation in core forensic sciences while fostering scientific reasoning, meticulous observation, and rigorous evidence evaluation skills.
- Prepare graduates for successful professional careers and postgraduate studies by developing their expertise to investigate crime scenes, analyze physical and biological evidence, and present objective, scientific expert testimony in accordance with legal standards.
- Develop technical and practical competencies through modern analytical laboratory instrumentation (e.g., GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR, Comparison Microscopy, DNA sequencers), crime scene simulation workshops, undergraduate research, and specialized forensic software.
- Enhance graduates’ communication, leadership, teamwork, and documentation skills, enabling them to participate effectively in multidisciplinary forensic, medico-legal, and investigative teams.
- Promote ethical integrity, legal compliance, quality assurance (ISO/IEC 17025 standards), health and safety protocols, and lifelong learning while preparing highly skilled forensic specialists capable of meeting labor market and judicial system needs.

Upon successful completion of the program requirements, graduates are awarded the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Forensic Evidence by the University of Mosul.
The program is classified at Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF), in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).
Admission to the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Forensic Evidence program is governed by the central admission regulations and policies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul. Applicants must meet the approved admission criteria for science faculties (Scientific / Biology track).
To be awarded the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Forensic Evidence, students must successfully satisfy all graduation requirements, including:
- Successful completion of all 240 ECTS credits, including compulsory and elective courses specified in the curriculum.
- Achievement of minimum graduation requirements in accordance with the regulations of MOHESR and the University of Mosul.
- Successful completion of all required laboratory sessions, mock crime scene processing sessions, chain of custody documentation exercises, and practical examinations.
- Compliance with all academic regulations governing assessment, progression, and graduation as approved by MOHESR and the University of Mosul.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and transfer of academic credits are considered only in cases of student transfer or course equivalency, in accordance with the official regulations and instructions of MOHESR and the University of Mosul.
Upon successful completion of the B.Sc. in Forensic Evidence program, graduates are expected to achieve the following Graduate Outcomes:
- GO1: The ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve complex forensic problems using fundamental knowledge of biological, chemical, and physical sciences to serve judicial, law enforcement, and academic institutions.
- GO2: The ability to effectively utilize modern information technology, specialized forensic databases, and digital analysis tools.
- GO3: The commitment to practice in accordance with professional ethics, legal standards, chain of custody protocols, and quality assurance principles.
- GO4: The ability to work within multidisciplinary teams (investigators, medical examiners, legal experts) to analyze evidence, solve cases, and strictly meet legal deadlines.
- GO5: The ability to acquire new forensic methodologies, adapt to emerging technologies, and engage in continuous professional development.
- GO6: The ability to design, execute, and evaluate forensic laboratory experiments using precise analytical techniques and scientific data interpretation.

- Ministry of Interior: Directorate of Forensic Evidence, Crime Scene Investigation Units, and Criminal Investigation Directorates.

The Forensic Evidence Program adopts the examination and assessment regulations approved by MOHESR and the University of Mosul. Student performance is evaluated through continuous and summative methods:
- Continuous assessment (quizzes, coursework, assignments, and practical laboratory logs).
- Midterm examinations (theoretical and practical).
- Final examinations (theoretical exams and comprehensive practical laboratory/crime scene evaluations).
- Mock crime scene processing reports and evidence handling logs.
- Scientific seminars, presentations, and undergraduate research project defense.
- Strict compliance with academic integrity, safety rules, confidentiality, and legal/ethical codes during laboratory and field exercises.
To be eligible for the award of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Forensic Evidence, students must:
- Successfully complete all 240 ECTS credits and all compulsory/elective courses in the curriculum.
- Achieve the minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) required by MOHESR and University of Mosul regulations.
- Successfully pass all mandatory practical laboratory sessions, crime scene simulations, and the graduation research project.
- Fulfill all administrative, legal, and academic requirements set by the University of Mosul.
The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Forensic Evidence is a four-year, full-time undergraduate program delivered under the Bologna Process (240 ECTS credits). The program emphasizes student-centered learning, combining theoretical lectures, specialized laboratory experiments, hands-on instrumentation training, simulated crime scene exercises, and case-study analyses. Students are trained on modern forensic tools, automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS), DNA sequencing software, GC-MS/HPLC analytical workflows, and digital forensic examination software to ensure immediate professional readiness upon graduation.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall management, delivery, and continuous quality improvement of the B.Sc. in Forensic Evidence program. Responsibilities include supervising curriculum implementation under the Bologna Process, monitoring Graduate Outcomes (GOs), coordinating laboratory and crime scene simulation activities, maintaining laboratory safety and ethics standards, and ensuring full alignment with the quality assurance policies of the University of Mosul and MOHESR guidelines.
