College of Science Organizes Workshop Titled “Women and Cyber Threats”

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the College of Science held an awareness workshop titled “Women and Cyber Threats” on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

The event was organized by the Women’s Affairs Committee in the College of Science, in collaboration with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, and the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the University Presidency.

The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturers Elin Mowafaq Khalil and Noor Al-Huda Ahmed Mohammed. It focused on key cyber threats facing women, including digital blackmail, cyberbullying, and privacy violations. The speakers also reviewed available legal and technical protection measures to counter these threats.

The session emphasized the importance of raising community awareness and enhancing digital literacy, especially among women and girls, to foster a safer and more equitable digital environment.

Additionally, the workshop aimed to promote several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as gender equality, decent work and economic growth, and peace, justice, and strong institutions—contributing to societal stability and a sustainable, secure future.
