A training course entitled “Microbiological Applications of Probiotics in Prevention and Treatment”

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and with the supervision and guidance of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim Al-Tai, the Department of Medical Physics at the College of Science organized a training course within the Continuing Education Program entitled “Microbiological Applications of Probiotics in Prevention and Treatment.”
The course was held on Sunday morning, October 12, 2025, in the department’s seminar hall and lasted for five days. Lecturers included: Assistant Lecturer Nadia Khalid, Assistant Lecturer Maryam Hazem, Assistant Lecturer Riya Talal, and Assistant Lecturer Alia Nadhir.
The course covered several scientific topics, including a general introduction to probiotics, their historical background, mechanism of action, and various sources, as well as their diverse applications in the food, medical, agricultural, and environmental fields. The lectures also discussed the preventive and therapeutic uses of probiotics in supporting digestive health and boosting overall immunity, in addition to the daily habits that influence their effectiveness. They also highlighted future challenges and prospects for developing their use in prevention and treatment.
This course was held as part of the College of Science at the University of Mosul’s efforts to enhance the scientific and research skills of its faculty and students, and to support continuing education in a way that serves academic and medical development in the community.
