Department of New and Renewable Energy Holds Faculty Meeting

As part of the College of Science – University of Mosul’s commitment to advancing the educational process and strengthening scientific and research activities, and on the occasion of the commencement of the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, the Department of New and Renewable Energy held a faculty meeting on Tuesday, January 3, chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Munir Suhail, Head of the Department, with the attendance of all faculty members.

The meeting commenced with welcoming remarks from the Head of the Department, who praised the faculty members for their academic and research efforts and emphasized the importance of regular meetings as a platform for exchanging ideas and discussing ways to further develop the department’s educational and research performance.

The agenda included discussions on several key topics, most notably:

  • The academic plan for the current semester and strategies for its development, both theoretically and practically, with particular emphasis on laboratory enhancement and improving laboratory efficiency in line with labor market requirements.
  • Research activities and scientific publishing, where participants stressed the importance of increasing publication rates in reputable international journals specializing in energy sciences and encouraging collaborative research among department members and with other departments and colleges, given its direct impact on improving the department’s standing in international rankings.
  • Monitoring students’ needs and providing the necessary support to ensure an ideal learning environment for the practical completion of graduation projects.

The meeting also addressed a number of proposals aimed at updating curricula in accordance with recent developments in the field of new and renewable energy and enhancing cooperation with departments and research centers both within and outside the university through workshops and training programs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Munir Suhail reaffirmed the department’s commitment to pursuing its ambitious plans for academic and research advancement, thereby strengthening the position of the college and the university at the local, regional, and international levels. He also encouraged faculty members to continue their efforts toward achieving these goals.
