Investment in Scientific Research as a Key Focus of the Dean of the College of Science’s Participation in Entrepreneurship Week
In line with academic orientations aimed at strengthening the role of scientific research in supporting sustainable development and linking its outputs to labor market needs, the participation of the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, came within a distinguished dialogue session held as part of Entrepreneurship Week under the title:
“Investing University Research Outputs and Their Relevance to the Labor Market.”
The session emphasized the importance of transforming scientific knowledge into applied projects that contribute to serving society and supporting the national economy.
During the session, Prof. Dr. Hiyam highlighted the necessity of linking scientific research to the national economy and encouraging students and researchers to adopt creative thinking, as well as working toward converting scientific ideas into practical, applicable, and investment-ready solutions. She also presented successful models of research initiatives at the College of Science that were developed and transformed into marketable projects, stressing the pivotal role of universities in promoting scientific innovation and fostering entrepreneurship.
The session witnessed an interactive and productive discussion among participants, addressing mechanisms to enhance collaboration between universities, industrial sectors, and startups. This contributes to building an innovation-friendly environment and strengthening the integration between academic education and labor market requirements.
The session concluded with the Dean of the College of Science reaffirming the college’s commitment to supporting scientific and applied initiatives and promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among students and faculty members, in alignment with the vision of the University of Mosul represented by its President, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and in support of the Sustainable Development Goals, while advancing scientific research to serve society and the nation.
