The Council of the College of Science at the University of Mosul held its ninth session on Monday, 16 February 2026, chaired by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and attended by the Council members. The meeting addressed a number of academic and administrative matters aimed at further strengthening the College’s educational and research mission.

The session commenced with a review of the program accreditation ranking results and the outstanding achievements attained by the College’s departments. The Council also discussed the importance of promoting high-quality scientific publishing and expanding research collaboration with international scholars and institutions, as these efforts contribute to enhancing the College’s scientific output and increasing its visibility within the global academic community.

Furthermore, the Council emphasized the need to encourage faculty members and postgraduate students to publish their research in reputable international databases, particularly those indexed in Scopus and Clarivate, with special attention given to publications in first-quartile (Q1) journals, which represent a benchmark of scientific excellence and research quality.

In another agenda item, the Council discussed the needs of postgraduate students and explored ways to overcome challenges that may arise during their research journey. The discussions focused on ensuring the availability of a supportive and stimulating academic environment that enables students to conduct and complete their research projects efficiently and successfully.

The convening of this session reflects the College leadership’s ongoing commitment to advancing academic and research standards, enhancing the College’s position in nationally and internationally recognized academic rankings, and supporting a culture of excellence and innovation.
