Training Course Explores the Applications of 3D Printing in Developing Innovative Solutions for the Labor Market

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and with the follow-up of the Head of the Department of New and Renewable Energies, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Munir Suhail, the Department of New and Renewable Energies, in cooperation with the College’s Qualification and Employment Unit and Al-Nabaa Technologies and Network Solutions Company, organized a specialized training course entitled:

“Applications of 3D Printing in Developing Innovative Solutions to Meet Labor Market Needs”

The course was held from 7–9 April 2026 at Ibn Sina Hall, with the participation of faculty members, students, and researchers from the department.

This training course was organized as part of the University’s continuing education activities and in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 9, and 17, aiming to enhance practical skills and bridge academic knowledge with technological advancements and labor market requirements.

The course consisted of two main components—theoretical and practical—providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of 3D printing technologies.

The theoretical sessions covered the fundamentals of 3D printing, comparisons between additive manufacturing and conventional printing methods, an introduction to different types of 3D printers and their operating mechanisms, detailed explanations of printer components and their functions, as well as an overview of various filament materials and their applications across multiple fields.

The practical sessions focused on training participants in the use of slicing software, explaining the procedures for preparing print files and configuring appropriate printing parameters. Participants also learned how to prepare designs for printing and initiate the manufacturing process. The course concluded with a hands-on exercise involving the production of a three-dimensional model.

The course was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Buraq Mohammed Saeed from the Department of New and Renewable Energies, with the participation of a specialized team from Al-Nabaa Technologies and Network Solutions Company, including Engineer Ali Basim Taha, Engineer Rahma Mohammed Saad Al-Din, Engineer Zaina Bassam Salih, and Engineer Mustafa Waleed Qasim. The instructors presented scientific lectures supported by modern examples and practical demonstrations, generating significant engagement and interaction from participants.

This course reflects the College of Science’s commitment to empowering its faculty members and students with modern practical skills, enhancing their readiness to keep pace with technological advancements and actively participate in the labor market.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the organizers and instructors of the course and wish them continued success and excellence in their academic and professional contributions.
