Registration of new plant varieties in the NCBI database

As part of its scientific activities in supporting academic research and documenting molecular data, a research team from the Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Science – University of Mosul has registered four new plant varieties in the database of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), in a scientific achievement reflecting the development of research in the field of plant biotechnology.
The research work was carried out under the supervision of assistant professor Dr. Alaa Hussein Ali al-Jubouri, and with the participation of doctoral student Nassar Ghani Sabri al-Hayali, where work was carried out on the development and diagnosis of new plant varieties using advanced scientific methods.
The registered plant varieties belong to the crab plant (Brassica napus) and are named as follows:
Brassica napus cultivar NA1
Brassica napus cultivar NA2
Brassica napus cultivar NA3
Brassica napus cultivar NA4
These varieties were obtained as a result of exposing the herring plant to ultraviolet radiation (UV), while they were diagnosed using modern molecular techniques, ensuring the accuracy of determining their genetic characteristics.
The genetic sequences were officially deposited in the NCBI GenBank database with the following numbers:
1- PV801142
2- PV801143
3- PV801144
4- PV801145
This step comes within the framework of the requirements of academic scientific research, and contributes to documenting the molecular data of plant varieties and making them available to researchers worldwide, supporting genetic studies and modern agricultural applications.
