Registration of Two Bacterial Isolates in the NCBI Database

As part of the scientific activities of the Department of Biology at the College of Science, University of Mosul, a research team has successfully registered two bacterial isolates in the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) database.
The research was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Khansaa Mohammed Younis, with the participation of undergraduate students Moamen Waleed Abdul Kareem, Anwar Diaa Salem, and Alaa Sabah Ali as part of their graduation project.
The registered isolates belong to the species Alcaligenes faecalis and Massilia haematophila. They were isolated from wastewater samples and demonstrated efficiency in voltage generation within microbial fuel cells. The isolates were identified using molecular techniques based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
The genetic sequences were officially deposited in the GenBank database under the accession numbers:
This achievement represents an important contribution to the documentation of molecular data and supports research applications in the fields of environmental science and bioenergy.
We extend our sincere congratulations to our students and academic staff, wishing them continued success and excellence.
